1. iRobot S8

This smart robot vacuum and mop is an excellent choice for many homes. It comes with a fantastic navigation system with GPS and laser sensors. It also comes with numerous features and controls accessible via the app. It also has a handy feature that lets you add cleaning zones to certain areas that require more attention, as well as Keep Out zones where you do not want it to move. The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner for floors that are clean. It is able to easily throw debris through the side brushes and into its 400ml dustbin. Its tyres are also very adept at hugging corners and edges even though they're circular. It's not a great kitty litter picker, though as our tests show it is able to remove around 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

There's a mopping mode which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is ideal for spills that aren't dangerous, but you are unable to limit the amount of water that it uses. It does a good job at picking up hair from pets. It has a higher percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Known for quietly effective home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum is a great choice because of its cleaning power, beautiful design, and a great navigation. It has a few oddities in its operation that prevent it from being named the top smart robot vacuum.

Like iRobot's latest models like the RX2 features a dual-sensor mapping system which uses a LIDAR sensor to map out an area and three 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once mapped, the app lets you create virtual no-go zones as well as favorite sections that the robot will automatically clean. You can also start an automatic clean or manually change the cleaning mode, watch live feeds from the onboard cameras, and more on the main screen.

The sensors of the RX2 work well, registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. 4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that looks like any other, but it has several more features and better performance. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2-D maps of your house and makes use of them to navigate around and stay clear of obstructions. It can even detect common obstacles like power cords and furniture legs in real-time. This combination of sensors along with a bump detector and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum away from stairs makes it one of our most agile vacuums.

In our tests, it effortlessly climbed over thick shag rug and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation skills were impressive as well and its overall score on carpet and bare floors topped the competition and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded pet hair from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are less basic than the competitors. There is a cleaning button at the top, and you can either start it with the app or by voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set up a schedule for your daily or weekly cleaning, set no-go zones, and view its cleaning history. Ion is clad in a sophisticated dark gray plastic that looks and feels beautiful in your home. Its rear dust bin is easy to empty and removing the filter the same.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a basic low-cost robot vacuum for a reasonable price, the Eufy 11S might be your best bet. It's not equipped with some advanced features like Alexa integration and digital mapping, which are available in higher-end models. However, if you don't need these features, you can save money.

The robot is simple to use and set up. It doesn't require a smartphone app or Wi-Fi connection, however it does come with an remote control that allows you to select between different modes and adjust the suction level. It also lets you manually send the robovac off during scheduled cleaning.

During our tests, the 11S was extremely effective in cleaning pet hair and dirt on hard floors as well as in carpets with a low pile. It is more sophisticated in its automation than the majority of its competitors, including the ability to set up virtual boundary markers with its mobile app. Although its app is a little sluggish and the 980 can spin out a bit while crossing cables, it's still a very capable robot vacuum.





One thing we really like about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will then use this information to design a consistent and efficient cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum cleaner than the majority of high-end robots.
