This isn't the same for online readers - often they are clicking away 12 seconds per page, consuming information as fast because they can and going through the deluge of information in rapid succession.Okay so, knowing this, and focusing on how you read yourself when you are online, and when you aren't, how will you take these details and help it serve you as an online author?It just so happens there was a fascinating article in "Read Write Web" titled; "Best Practices for Writing For Online Readers," by Dave Copeland posted on March 16, 2012. In this article Dave explains he has done quite a bit of research on online readers. He stated that whenever reading in this venue folks do a many more scanning than actual reading, and although they're reading, not in the way that people are accustomed too. Therefore online writers have to take this under consideration, give consideration, and adapt for the new audience and venue. Okay so, let's talk about this for second shall we?You see, in my opinion, that is to say, in my view, he is right, but I must admit that sometimes I wish he weren't. I wish that online readers read the same way as those who read books and magazines. After all, when I begun to write it was in an era where in fact the Internet was not so pervasive. Today everything is online, our news stories, magazine articles, and all the books are now rewritten, or re-formatted into e-books. My bookshelf at home will soon look more like a museum piece.Indeed, I'm uncertain if you've noticed this or not, but I've because I do prefer to read the physical newspaper, but I also scan the news headlines online. I've often read an article online without very much information, albeit the pertinent facts of this article, then I browse the physical newspaper, and the very same story is a lot more comprehensive with several hundred words along with that which was online. Why do you think this is? Well, I would submit to you that it's for the same reason that Dave Copeland above explained in his article.Being an online article author with now over 26,000 articles under my belt, Personally i think like I am an incident study in and of myself in the world of online article writing. Yes, I made plenty of mistakes on the way, but I've learned a whole lot, and have a significant level of knowledge now in judging how online readers ingest their information - what turns them on, and what instantly turns them off. It isn't what you think, in fact it is completely different from everything that they taught you in composition class when you were in school.
