NFT Bored Ape 101: History of the Prized NFT Collection.
The world of cryptocurrency is already here, and it’s already surpassed the milestone of being the next big thing since the Internet. Alongside its existence, the NFTs appear to be the next big thing, but are they? Seeing how the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs or NFT Bored Ape and cryptocurrency others are selling, they just might be!
So let’s read the BYAC 101 about the hottest selling NFTs on the market – The Bored Ape Yacht Club Collection!
    What is Bored Ape NFT?
The Ultimate NFT Collectors cannot pride their collections without owning the hottest NFTs on the market, the NFT Ape. The commonly known Bored Ape NFT is a collection (10,000) of images depicting Apes with different attributes. The difference between their appearance and aesthetic offers variety, but there’s more.
The NFTs available within the collection fulfills more than an aesthetic purpose. Going beyond offering digital ownership of the images, the Ape NFT is also like tickets to the Exclusive Digital BAYC. BAYC is essentially a digital club founded by four anonymous members.
Being sold exclusively on OpenSea via time-limited sales, the NFT Bored Ape collection has already surpassed the CryptoPunks Market Cap. The entire Bored Ape NFT collection is now worth over $3.2 billion, eclipsing the $2.5 billion CryptoPunks valuation.
Here’s the list of the attributes that differentiate the BAYC NFTs from one another with common attributes that they share:
    Who Created Bored Ape NFT?
The NFT space is mostly known to feature prized possessions created by anonymous artists. The same was also true for the BAYC NFT collection, at least for the initial months.
A team of 4 people is the pseudonymous creators of the NFT Bored Ape collection, led by Gordon Goner. Together they’re the creators of Yuga Labs, a Web3 company, which creates NFT Bored Apes and Mutant Apes Serum NFTs.
The BAYC NFTs was launched on 30th April 2021 and sold initially for 0.08 ETH (~$320). At the time, the NFT Apes were less famous than now, and the partners, namely, Gargamel, No Sass, and Emperor Tomato Ketchup, were each working a 9-5 parallel.
However, the community of Crypto lovers or investors combined with the marketing power of Twitter led the collection to gain momentum. Currently, any NFT Ape doesn’t sell for anything less than 50 ETH (~$200,000), surpassing the Cryptopunks Collection valuation.

Why is the Bored Ape NFT collection prized so much among others when there are several other similar collections? Furthermore, which is the rarest bored ape? To answer these questions, you need to understand how they present themselves to the public.
The Inception of NFT Ape Lifestyle.
The Bored Ape NFT sale was significantly lower at a collective average of ~$45,000 after a handful of sales. Overnight, it boomed, and the collection sold out each of the 10,000 Bored Ape NFTs. Many of the owners were media personalities from the sales, so the collection further grew in valuation.
Leading to it, the creators opened the pre-established online club, where owners can use their membership (NFTs) to create art. Succeedingly, the collection became a club for the like-minded, forward-thinking, and tech-savvy individuals on the planet.
The BAYC was thus created with the idea to allow owners to use their NFTs as tokens to access an exclusive online graffiti space – "The Bathroom." It also rewards the owners with Free NFTs, which can be later resold and inclusivity to an exclusive Discord Server.
    The NFT Bored Ape Club.
Being a Bored Ape Yacht Club member is not just about flexing online or on Twitter. Yuga Labs, the creators of the Bored Apes, throw exclusive parties often with free private performances from members of the club such as Lil Baby, Timbaland, Mike Shinoda, etc.
The other notable celebrities in the club include Dez Bryant, The Chainsmokers, Marshmallow, Shaquille O’Neal, Steve Aoki, Logan Paul, etc. Brands have also participated in the NFT Ape hype, apart from notable personalities.
Adidas partnered with the BAYC for its first known NFT project, which graced the cover of the popular Rolling Stones magazine. Another hype-worth aspect over the ownership of NFT Apes is the ‘Ape Fest.’ It was held between 31st October to 6th November in New York City with over 700 participants, followed by a Yacht Party.
Who Owns NFT Bored Ape Club?
The creators of NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club also have their spinoffs, Named Bored Ape Kennel Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (NFT Bored Ape Mutant Serum). The former NFTs were given for free to the BAYC NFT owners, broadening the BAYC NFTs ownership. However, it did require owners only to pay the gas fee.
For the latter, many crypto investors have bought them, even for a high price, apart from getting them for free. To summarize who owns the NFT Bored Ape Club, the creators and owners of those NFTs jointly own them. As for the matter of How much do bored apes cost?
Presently, a BAYC NFT can cost nowhere less than $200,000 (50 ETH), and the prices will only soar higher.
NFT Bored Ape Controversies & Social Reception.
For anything that generates hype, some controversies do-follow, right? Except, the BAYC NFTs are largely bereft of them, for good. On the other hand, their media reception has been bubbling exceedingly higher.
Eminem, the world-famous rapper, Grammy winner & Oscar winner artist, recently bought his BAYC NFT #9055 for $452K. His collection now includes over 165 NFTs, and similarly, the Bored Ape NFT sale has received plenty of media attention. The BAYC NFT owned by Post Malone was featured to appear in one of this song’s music videos – One Right Now , depicting him purchasing it via MoonPay.

Still, the collection doesn’t have a flawless record for sale when we factor in one incident. The #3547 Bored Ape NFT was mistakenly listed for 0.75 ETH instead of 75 ETH. It led to an anonymous buyer picking it up instantaneously for ~$3000, relisting it for ~$250,000.
Though this incident casts no pallor on the glory of the NFT Bored Apes collection, it has generated a consequence. Open Sea, one of the largest global NFT marketplace, has banned several ripoffs of the collection avatars. Furthermore, the platform has also frozen the sale of 16 stolen Bored Ape NFTs, amounting to $2 million.
It’s only a matter of time until these controversies settle. But, not without further assisting in raising the CP of Bored Ape NFTs.
