    Swine Flu Not Deterring Travellers

Revision as of 19:26, 8 April 2023 by 192.186.131.215 (talk)

As some areas experienced more concentrated parts of contagiousness than others, folks are understandably worried about venturing on the booked holidays, though the UK appears to be one nation that is less apprehensive than others.

According to here conducted by Travelzoo, British people are the least worried about the impact of swine flu on their travel plans.

The organisation conducted a survey of 10,582 travellers in 24 regions over the UK, Germany, France and Spain which revealed that we now have vastly diverging attitudes towards swine flu, as British medical insurance customers are much less cautious about the danger posed by the virus.

Just seven per cent of Brits said they'll change their travel plans due to it, compared to 21 % of Spaniards, 15 % of Germans and 14 % of French, the report revealed.

Sharron Livingston, editor at thetravelmagazine.net, said that folks from the UK are renowned for keeping a stiff upper lip rather than being deterred from their plans, but pointed out that they may be putting themselves in peril, even if the herpes virus won't affect them too badly.

"Swine flu is highly contagious and although fatalities have been reported, these are few in number. Swine flu, like any flu, can make you feel very ill, but it should pass after a few days of rest," she explained.

Ms Livingstone added that people older than 65 are the most at risk and also children, but advised private health cover holders with underlying conditions to consult medical professionals before venturing overseas.
