As people age, nutritional concerns can be a significant part of their lives. Nutritional deficiencies can lead to serious health problems and lowered quality of life.

medical alert The elderly can suffer from nutritional challenges due to reduced mobility, decreased physical strength, altered appetite and difficulty digesting food. Taking the time to understand their specific nutritional needs and finding out how to accommodate them can have a positive impact on their well-being.

Protein, Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Fiber

A diet rich in proteins such as eggs, milk, nuts, legumes, fish and low-fat dairy is important for the elderly. It provides energy, supports growth and maintenance of muscle mass, and helps prevent certain diseases (including osteoporosis).
